Coronavirus (COVID-19)

If you are planning on travelling distance to attractions, we would recommend that you contact the venues directly in advance to avoid disappointment.

If you, or any of your party have a new persistant cough, or develop a fever of 38C, we would instead advise you to use the NHS's dedicated website for professional advice.

Chirk Aqueduct

Completed in 1801 (just four years before its big brother at Pontcysyllte), Chirk Aqueduct offers fantastic views.
There's a car park just off Castle Road right opposite the aqueduct. And Chirk train station is less than five minutes' walk away too.
Once you're there, take a gentle stroll across and grab a picture or two for the album.
Then keep going along the towpath and across the Welsh border into England (where you'll pass picturesque cottages and be a skip away from The Poacher's Pocket and Bridge Inn pubs). Or turn back and tackle 'the Darkie' tunnel which - you guessed it - is very dark and something of an adventure!
